Respecting Country

Pro-Activ Building Group Pty Ltd acknowledges the Traditional Owners and Custodians of Country throughout Australia and acknowledges their continuing connection to land, sea and community. We pay our respects to the people, the cultures and the Elders past, present and emerging.

A Message From Our Managing Director

Building More Than Projects

At Pro-Activ Building Group, we build more than residential and commercial projects — we build relationships, communities and futures. As a company that already works alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses, subcontractors and communities across our operations, we recognise there is more we can do to make that engagement deliberate, consistent and lasting.

This Reconciliation Roadmap is our commitment to formalising that work. It sets out practical steps we will take over the next twelve months to strengthen our relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, deepen our understanding and respect for their cultures and histories, and create genuine opportunities within our business — from employment to supply chain partnerships.

We are early in this journey, and we don't pretend to have all the answers. What we do have is a genuine intent to listen, learn and act, and a leadership team that is accountable for turning these commitments into outcomes, not just words on a page.

I want to thank everyone across our construction, IT and fire and safety divisions who has already helped build the relationships this roadmap is founded on. I look forward to reporting on our progress as we work through each of these commitments together.

Our Business

Where We Work

Our core business covers residential and commercial construction, renovations, strata repairs, project management and fire safety operations across NSW, with staff based in office and on-site locations.

We currently have 5 employees. Our business already maintains relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses, subcontractors and/or community organisations — this Roadmap formalises and builds on those relationships as part of a structured, company-wide commitment to reconciliation.

Our Reconciliation Roadmap

The First Phase Of Our Journey

This Roadmap is the first phase of our reconciliation journey. It lays the foundations for our ongoing commitment: understanding our sphere of influence, scoping relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders, and preparing our business for more substantial commitments over time.

Given our existing relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders, this plan focuses on formalising and deepening those foundations, rather than starting from zero.

Please note: this is an internally developed document, independent of and not affiliated with, endorsed by, or submitted to Reconciliation Australia. It is not a "Reconciliation Action Plan" or "RAP" as defined under Reconciliation Australia's registered program, and does not use their RAP framework, logo, or trademarked terms.
01

Promote reconciliation through internal and external communications.

Communicate our Roadmap commitment via staff induction, intranet, website and project documentation.

Promote positive race relations through anti-discrimination strategies.

Review HR policies and procedures to identify existing anti-discrimination provisions and future needs.

02

Respect

Increase understanding, value and recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, knowledge and rights through cultural learning.

Conduct a review of cultural learning needs across office and site-based staff in every state; develop a cultural learning strategy.

Demonstrate respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples by observing cultural protocols.

Identify the Traditional Owners and/or Custodians of Country for each state and region we operate in; implement an Acknowledgement of Country protocol for meetings and project sites.

Build respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures by celebrating NAIDOC Week.

Raise staff awareness of the purpose of NAIDOC Week; promote local NAIDOC events in each state office.

03

Opportunities

Formalise and expand existing Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander supplier and subcontractor relationships; investigate Supply Nation membership; develop a procurement strategy.

04

Governance

Establish and maintain an effective Reconciliation Working Group (RWG) to govern Roadmap implementation.

Form a RWG with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander representation; draft Terms of Reference.

Provide appropriate support for effective implementation of Roadmap commitments.

Define resourcing and budget needs; appoint a senior leader as Reconciliation Champion.

Build accountability and transparency through regular reporting on Roadmap achievements, challenges and learnings.

Report progress to the leadership team quarterly; publish an internal reconciliation progress update annually.

Review this Roadmap annually and consider next steps for our reconciliation journey.

Assess outcomes against commitments; refresh actions for the following year; evaluate whether a formally registered Reconciliation Action Plan with Reconciliation Australia is right for our business as our reconciliation work matures.
